Before I get into the song, let me apologize for those of you who are viewing the site on the PC or mobile site. I’m doing some spring cleaning again and still haven’t found a theme I like. One of them, I’ll like the body of, another I like the header, but I haven’t found one yet where I’m happy with both, so it’s likely to undergo a series of costume changes through October until I settle on something that has the right feng shui, or whatever, to feel right.

Now, I recorded the new songs tonight, with a sore throat, and an extra jimmy-rigged sound set-up. I know the sound is out of balance. It’s called ‘rough’ for a reason(or, you know, a whole host of them). It’s not really the ideal sort of voice situation (and cross your fingers that my throat recovers overnight, because I have a zombie-related event soon and I don’t want to be sick for it.) for trying to do vocals.

Also, total noob moment here, but I finally found the sweet spot on my cheapo mic, which means I now have to figure out how to position and adjust everything to get the balance right all over again. I’ll figure it out eventually.

I guess you could say this one is slightly steampunk-inspired, if you need some sort of context.

Time Traveler’s Love Song

Somewhere in the time-space continuum

I’m meeting you for the first time

In the distance a zeppelin flies

There’s a siren when I catch your eyes

Through the clouds and ash

my heart goes pitter, and then I crash

you smiled and I cried

because that’s the day that you died.

So I’m writing you this time traveler’s love song

I’ll keep trying to right the things that went wrong.

And when I finally get it right

I’ll meet you on the other side of the night.

But there are so many butterflies

so many little things that change the flow of time

Sometimes it all just ends so fast

other times we never meet at all

every time I try to change the past

I end up waiting for the bombs to fall.

And I keep writing you this time traveler’s love song

I keep trying to right the things that go wrong.

And when I finally get it right

I’ll meet you on the other side of the night.

There has to be a life where we grow old

where I can have your warm hand to hold

where we walk through fields of flowers and sunlight

where I don’t have to live without you near

but every time I think I’ve got it right

I wake in a cold sweat and you’re not here.

And I keep writing you this time traveler’s love song

I keep trying to right the things that went wrong.

Maybe I’ll never get it right

but I’ll look for you on the other side of the night

I’ll keep chasing the other side of the night

Please come find me

I’ll be waiting

on the other side of the night.
