This time of year is kind of cool. If you’re not paying attention, everything looks pretty dismal, and then one day you blink and realize everything is lush and green.
But, if you are paying attention, you can notice the first buds of leaves, you can see early flowers blooming where they’ve got no business being at all.
First, there are white and pink flowering trees, then hints of yellow – daffodils, other baby flowers, and the ferns start to peek out of beds of dead leaves, then vines and trees start to show these tiny baby green leaves.
It’ll be a while yet before the full canopy of green emerges, but tons of rain followed by a few unseasonably warm days (the past two days have been 85 F here), the parks are slowly waking up.
